Each year, The Washington Post's community supplements printed a localized calendar of events for the Fourth. It became an annual challenge to do something more creative than just printing a generic fireworks photo.

The Results >
I feel this cover shows a creative and inviting use of negative space to emphasize the '4.' The images were from the previous year's celebrations, all unique to this zone-specific magazine. They are used again, but differently on the inside layout.
