Assignment >
The editor wanted to run a story about an ambitious D.C. plan to renovate the blighted Anacostia river front. Together we decided on an illustrated map with comparative photos and extended, informative captions.

The Results >
For this project, I was a bit of a one-man art department and copy desk. I designed the center spread using the concept drawings provided by city planners and archival photos of the same areas. I created the background map giving it a more intense color scheme than our traditional, simple locator maps. I also wrote the headlines and captions based on the reporter's notes.
